GarrettCom

GarrettCom, of Fremont, California, built the Magnum range of industrial Ethernet switches and routers, hardware designed for places a commercial switch would not survive: electricity substations, rail trackside cabinets, traffic control and process plant. That meant wide temperature tolerance, DC power inputs, no moving parts and hardened enclosures, rather than the raw port count an office switch is judged on. Belden announced its acquisition of GarrettCom in December 2010 and the Magnum line continued as a Belden brand. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished GarrettCom hardware including hardened Magnum ES-series switches with 48V DC input. Refurbished GarrettCom hardware remains in demand because substation and trackside installations run for decades and a replacement has to match the original power and temperature specification exactly.
