Hipro Electronics was established in Taiwan in 1990 as the power supply arm of Chicony Electronics, and built switching power supplies for desktop computers, servers and networking equipment largely as an original equipment supplier rather than a retail brand. In February 2009 the power supply business transferred to Chicony Power Technology, which continues it today. Because Hipro built to order for the computer makers of the day, its units sit inside desktops and servers carrying a different badge on the front, with the Hipro part number visible only on the supply itself.
