Proxim

Proxim was founded in 1984 as Proxim Corporation and grew into a supplier of broadband wireless networking systems for enterprises, governments, communities and service providers, based in San Jose, California. Its range covered wireless LAN access points alongside point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio systems. In 2002 it acquired the ORiNOCO wireless LAN brand from Agere Systems, the business spun off from Lucent, and ORiNOCO became the name on Proxim’s enterprise access points. After a Chapter 11 filing in 2005 the assets were bought by Terabeam, which took the name Proxim Wireless Corporation in 2007. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Proxim hardware including ORiNOCO tri-mode 802.11a/b/g wireless access points. Refurbished ORiNOCO access points remain in demand because established enterprise wireless networks are often kept running on the same model rather than redesigned.
