Chase Research

Chase Research built communications hardware around its IOLAN range of terminal servers, the devices that put banks of RS232 serial ports onto an Ethernet network so console and serial equipment can be reached remotely. IOLAN units combined serial ports with AUI, 10BASE-T and 10BASE2 Ethernet in a single chassis, which reflects the mixed cabling of the period they were built for. The IOLAN line was carried forward by Perle Systems, which still sells IOLAN-branded terminal and device servers today. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Chase Research hardware including IOLAN+ eight-port communications terminal servers. Refurbished Chase Research hardware remains in demand because serial console access is still needed for equipment that offers no other out-of-band management, and a matching unit avoids re-working the access path.
