Hewlett-Packard

Hewlett Packard (HP) supplies a wide range of server, storage and network infrastructure hardware deployed across data centres, enterprises and managed service provider networks. This archive covers the whole family: hardware sold under the HP brand, under Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) since the 2015 split, and the Compaq-era parts HP carried forward. Products are listed as HP followed by the part number, which is how they appear on the label and in HP’s own documentation.

Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished HP equipment including ProLiant rack and tower servers, ProCurve and Aruba switching, hard disk drives and solid state drives, RAM modules, power supplies and a wide range of replaceable spare parts. Refurbished HP hardware is in strong demand for capacity expansion, end-of-life equipment replacement, lab and test environments, and the support of installed estates across organisations of all sizes.

Our HP and HPE catalogue covers part numbers including 171S2-67020, 234893-001, 454532-001, 641993-001, 761926-001, 853008-001, 867464-001, J3401-69501, J7Z09-67044, JC616A, JW665A, JW726A, JX742A, K0Q45-67008, K0Q45-67342, M46748-601, M49523-601, N20724-601, N44004-601, P37645-001 and many more. Digital, Compaq, HP, 3Com and H3C: how they connect

This chain spans several formerly separate companies whose hardware still carries its original badge. It starts with Digital Equipment Corporation.

  • 1998: Compaq acquired Digital Equipment Corporation, taking on the VAX, Alpha and DECnet lines along with the DEChub networking range.
  • 2002: HP acquired Compaq. ProLiant servers and the related enterprise lines continued under HP.
  • 2010: HP acquired 3Com, whose switching became HP Networking. The deal included H3C, originally the 2003 joint venture between Huawei and 3Com.
  • 2015: HP split into HP Inc and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). A split, not a sale; part numbers continued unchanged.

The badge on the unit dates it rather than changing what it is or what supports it. Tech-Star catalogues each part under its original badge: see Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq, 3Com and H3C.

Polycom, Plantronics, Poly and HP: one family of hardware

Plantronics built its name in professional headsets, Polycom in conference phones and video endpoints. They are now one business, owned by HP, and the same product lines have carried four badges along the way.

  • July 2018: Plantronics completed its acquisition of Polycom (2.0 billion USD enterprise value).
  • March 2019: the combined company rebranded as Poly. A rename, not a sale; product lines and part numbers continued unchanged.
  • August 2022: HP completed its acquisition of Poly (3.3 billion USD), folding it into the HP hybrid work portfolio.

When you are buying: a SoundStation or VVX phone badged Polycom, a Voyager or EncorePro headset badged Plantronics, and the same ranges badged Poly or HP are the same products from the same lines; the badge simply dates the unit. Tech-Star catalogues each part under its original badge: see Polycom and Plantronics.
